A home visit shouldn't feel like an "inspection"—it’s a collaborative, relaxed session designed to help your family thrive in the space where you spend the most time. Catherine brings her 30 years of expertise directly to your front door, offering a second pair of eyes and a steady hand to help navigate the daily challenges of SEND life.
Here is how we work together to turn your home into a sanctuary of progress and play.
Every visit starts with a conversation. We begin by sitting down with you to listen to your story.
Your Concerns: What are the "pinch points" in your day? Is it bedtime, mealtimes, or perhaps the transition from school to home?
Your Goals: What does success look like for your family this month?
The "Local Ear": This is your time to offload to someone who truly understands the complexities of additional needs without judgment.
With your permission, Catherine will spend time observing how your child interacts with their environment.
Sensory Mapping: We look at lighting, noise, and layout to see if small changes could reduce your child's anxiety or "meltdown" triggers.
Engagement Check: We identify the toys, spaces, or routines that currently capture your child’s interest and look for ways to expand on them.
This is the "Consultant" part of our visit. We don’t just give you a list of things to do; we show you how to do them.
Communication Tweaks: Simple visual aids or environmental cues that help your child understand what’s coming next.
Routine Building: Crafting a "flow" for the day that supports both the child’s needs and the parents’ sanity.
Space Optimization: Suggestions for "calm-down corners" or workstation setups that promote focus.
If you have one of our Brilliant Boxes, we’ll use the visit to demonstrate how to get the most out of it.
Modeling Play: Catherine will show you specific techniques to encourage eye contact, turn-taking, or sensory exploration using the tools in the box.
Customizing the Experience: Every child is different, so we’ll help you adapt the box's contents to suit your child’s specific sensory profile or developmental stage.
You won’t be left wondering what to do next. Following the visit, you’ll receive a tailored summary—a simple, jargon-free roadmap of the strategies we discussed.
The Goal: To leave you feeling empowered, not overwhelmed, with a clear plan to increase engagement and harmony in your home.
